A lovely day in the Lake District yesterday on the Rydal and Ambleside Workshop I was running.
The day started at Rydal Hall where we met up and then headed over to Rydal Water Boat house for a Classic Composition. The water was quite still with only a slight ripple at times. Conditions were perfect for going into detail about camera settings, explaining why those settings were used, talking about composition, checking the image on the Histogram, how to interpret the information and then put it all into practice.
Brew time....
Then it was back to Rydal Hall and the lovely Rydal Waterfall where I was able to demonstrate how not to cross the water without getting wet. A few laughs at my expense. lol
Once again camera settings, shutter speed, use of filters composition etc explained and all put into practice.
We then headed back to Rydal Water and the little tree on the Island. The water was quite choppy and the light was very harsh at this point but I managed to demononstate how things don't always go to plan and how to work with what you've got. Then it was back to Rydal Hall where we had lunch, a recap and lots of banter. O and a nice home made cake.. thankyou Denis.:).
Having assesed the weather and conditions I decided it would be a good idea to head towards Elterwater Common. The Langdale Pikes as a backdrop, clouds and changing light would make for some stunning photography.
We could have stayed all day, the changing light and how light can substantially change an image and composition was beautifully demonstrated.
I would like to thank Les Fitton for his continued support in my photography and help on the day, it was very much appreciated. Les is a very good photographer and excels in photography of the Yorkshire Dales and Railways where he has a substantial following.
I have attached a couple of photos that I managed to capture on the the day on my Facebook Page
