In the middle of the year I was approached by a client who asked me to produce a particular image for him and asked if I was up for the challenge. Well I certainly was. This actually would be a challenge as the conditions needed to be right for the shot and a little preparation needed to be able to take the photograph from a specific location. The image was to be printed, mounted and framed. The photograph was to be of panoramic format looking out from Blackrod Village and taking in the views of Winter Hill, Rivington and Horwich in Lancashire. I decided it would be best to capture the image on a clear autumn day so I could capture the lovely autumnal colours. Such conditions did present themselves and on this particular morning I visited the already pre-arranged location at St Katherine's Church. I must say that the church were very accommodating and I enjoyed there hospitality and enthusiasm for the project. I learned quite a bit about the history of the church and after a cuppa was escorted to the top of the clock tower by Robin. We made our way up the narrow spiral steps to the bell ringing room, then to the bells themselves of which had been recently renovated, and then onto the clock tower. There are only three clock faces not four, there isn't one facing Horwich. The joke is that Blackrod wouldn't give Horwich the time of day. 🤣 Then up through a small hatch to the top of the tower. Wow, wow wow was my initial thought... The scene before me was absolutely stunning with its 360 degree views taking in the Pennines, Cumbrian, and Welsh Mountains. How lucky was I ? I then set about composing the image. I took 9 individual portrait shots of which I was able to stitch together in post processing. It's the only way to get such a view in a photograph and enabled me to capture the image in such high quality. I would like to say a big thankyou to Robin and the church, I really enjoyed the experience and your hospitality. Anyhow a few weeks later and I was able to present the finished product. The real wood frame is bespoke and hand made to fit the photograph and is printed on high quality textured paper. My client is extremely pleased with the result as am I. Pheeew!! I will be selling a few copies of this as agreed. So keep an eye out for it. Thanks for your support, any monies I make go straight back into my photography so I can continue to do this. www.antonyrowlandsphotography.com 1-2-1 tuition, Workshops and Prints. I have a few projects in the pipeline for 2020 and I'm really looking forward to a great year with my photography. 😀
